As part of the campaign in defence of our pensions the NUT and NASUWT have set up an e-petition on HM Government's website. The petition calls on the Government to enter into genuine negotiations with us about the Teachers' Pension Scheme. If we are to get the negotiated settlement we are working flat out to achieve, the Government must accept that further discussions and additional funding from the Treasury are needed.
Please support the petition. It only takes a minute or two to sign up here.
If the petition attracts over 100,000 signatures there should be a debate in Parliament about it, where the Minister would have to come and explain the Government's actions. So once you've signed please share the petition link as widely as possible.
The NUT has condemned the Government's announcement that it has ended negotiations with the unions on its proposals on public sector pensions. Despite some concessions brought about because of strike action the Government's position on teachers' pensions remains unchanged. The Government still wants to make teachers pay more, work longer and get less. The NUT National Executive meets on Wednesday 14 March to decide our response, in the light of NUT members' responses to our consultation. Visit our pensions campaign page for further information on the Government's proposals and the NUT's campaign
Meetings for school representatives are being organised around the country to give you more details of the pension campaign and what you can do in your school. Click here to find out where a meeting is taking place near you.
The NUT will be consulting all members, via a survey that will be sent to home addresses on 23 February, on this proposed strategy.
The consultation survey will ask two questions. Click here to read more.
Please be advised that until further notice, there will not be any courses taking place in Swansea. A new course programme is being developed and will be published shortly.

The Workers come from across the country and right across Britain's diverse public sector. Their jobs are different, but they share a love of music, and have joined up to record "Let's Work Together" in solidarity with everyone involved in November 30th's Day of Action for Pensions Justice.
